Frequently asked questions

How can I help my child become a better writer?

Write a little every day, read a lot, and talk about ideas before writing. Praise ideas first, then fix one or two things at a time. Our journal and story starters make daily writing easy.

What grammar should children know by each grade?

Most children learn nouns, verbs and capital letters in the early grades; tenses, adjectives and commas by grades 3–4; and pronouns, agreement, apostrophes and commonly confused words through middle school. Each grammar quiz lists a suggested level.

Is my journal private?

Yes. Journal entries are saved only in this browser on this device. Pagine never sees them. Use “Download my journal” to keep a copy.
