The Fox and the Stork (a retold fable)

Fox invited Stork to dinner. He served soup on a flat plate and lapped it up quickly. Stork, with her long, thin beak, could only dip the tip and stayed hungry.

"Did you not like the soup?" asked Fox with a grin.

The next week, Stork invited Fox to dinner. She served stew in a tall jar with a narrow neck. Stork reached in easily with her beak, but Fox could only lick the rim.

"I am only treating you as you treated me," said Stork. Fox walked home hungry and a little wiser.
