🌉 Mateo Builds a Bridge

During STEM week, Mateo's class had a challenge: build a bridge from paper.

The bridge had to hold ten pennies.

Mateo's first bridge was flat, and it sagged with only two pennies.

He tried again. This time he folded the paper like a fan.

The folded bridge held all ten pennies, and then fifteen!

Mateo wrote in his journal: "Folds make paper stronger."

His teacher said he thought like a real engineer.

1.How did Mateo feel at the start? How do you know?
2.What was the problem?
3.How did the characters solve it?
4.What lesson can we learn from this story?
Answer key: problem/solution: his flat bridge sagged → he folded the paper
