🌋 The Science Fair Volcano

Ruby wanted to build a volcano for the science fair.

She and Dad made a mountain from clay and painted it brown.

The night before the fair, Ruby tested it. She poured vinegar onto baking soda, but nothing happened!

Ruby felt like crying. "My volcano is broken," she said.

Dad looked closely. "I think the baking soda is old," he said.

They bought a fresh box in the morning.

At the fair, Ruby's volcano bubbled and fizzed over the top.

Everyone clapped, and Ruby learned to always test her supplies.

1.How did Ruby feel at the start? How do you know?
2.What was the problem?
3.How did the characters solve it?
4.What lesson can we learn from this story?
Answer key: problem/solution: it did not fizz → they found old baking soda and bought new
