What is the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)?
English group plus chosen studies (Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History and many more). External exams October–November; General Achievement Test (GAT) mid-year. Study scores combine to produce the ATAR.
What is the format?
Units 3–4 studies have end-of-year external exams set by the VCAA. School-assessed coursework also counts toward each study score. The GAT checks literacy and numeracy skills.
How should students prepare?
Take one practice test to find strengths and gaps, review the skill breakdown, practise the weaker skills, then try another test a week later. Read every day and talk about what you read.
