The Water Cycle

Water on Earth moves in a cycle that never stops.

The Sun heats water in oceans and lakes, and it rises into the air as water vapor. This is evaporation.

High in the sky, the vapor cools and forms clouds. This is condensation.

When clouds get heavy, water falls as rain or snow. This is precipitation.

The water collects in rivers, lakes and oceans, and the cycle starts again.
