Bisi, Emeka and Hauwa want to be captain. Each one tells the class their plan.
Bisi promises a cleaner classroom. Emeka promises a reading corner. Hauwa promises to be fair to everyone.
Each pupil writes one name on a small paper — secretly.
One by one, we drop our papers into the box.
Mrs Okafor counts the votes out loud. Hauwa wins!
Bisi and Emeka shake Hauwa’s hand. “We will help you,” they say.
That is democracy: everyone has a voice, and we work together.
